With the growing interest in battery systems for photovoltaic power plants, serious problems related to their implementation are appearing more frequently. Some investors purchase battery systems that cannot be installed at all because they are not suitable for the Macedonian market and grid, while in other cases batteries are installed but, due to a lack of experience and inadequate programming equipment, they are never put into commercial operation.
This means that instead of generating higher revenues and savings, the battery system results in losses.
A battery system is not an ordinary battery nor equipment that can simply be plugged in. Unlike photovoltaic power plants, which are relatively simple in their implementation and operation, battery systems are complex energy facilities that must be properly designed, software-integrated, and aligned with grid rules, regulations, and market mechanisms.
FERO INVEST offers two types of proven battery systems:

Deadline: 1 April 2026 – Batteries for PV Plants (Projects for 2027)
If you are planning, as an investor, to install a battery system at an existing photovoltaic power plant, it is important to know the following:
The deadline for submitting an initiative for the construction of battery systems for 2027 is 01.04.2026.
According to the new Energy Law (“Official Gazette of the Republic of North Macedonia” No. 101/25 and 135/25), for battery systems (below 1 MW) an initiative must be submitted to the competent municipality by this date, so that the project can be included in the Annual Plan for Construction of Energy Facilities for 2027.
Without inclusion in this plan, the realization of the investment is not possible.
Under current market conditions, a photovoltaic power plant on its own increasingly cannot repay the investment, because during the hours of highest production the price of electricity is very low, and sometimes even zero.
Therefore, battery systems are becoming a key part of the economics of photovoltaic power plants, as they enable:
